Do you take my insurance?

Regardless of your benefit plan, our office will process all insurance claims in a way that allows you to maximize your dental benefits. We are participating providers for Delta Dental Premier.

Facts you should know about dental insurance:

Dental insurance has played a role in helping people obtain better care. Since we strongly feel that our patients deserve the best possible treatment we can provide, and in an effort to maintain the highest quality of care, we would like to share some facts about dental insurance with you.

  • Dental insurance companies do not intend for their plans to cover all expenses. Their plans serve only as an aid toward acquiring better care.
  • Many dental plans tell their insured that they will be covered "up to 80% or to 100%". In spite of what you are told, most dentists find that the majority of plans cover about 30% to 40% of an average fee. Some plans pay more, some pay less. The amount your plan pays is determined by how much you or your employer paid for the plan. The less that is paid for the insurance, the less you benefit.
  • Many dental services are covered a specific number of times in a calendar year (for example, recall appointments may be covered only once in every 6 month period). Depending on the Insurance and group coverage that you or your company has purchased, these benefits may be to the day as opposed to any time in the calendar year.
  • Some insurance companies tell their clients "fees are above the usual and customary fees" rather than saying to them that "our benefits are too low". In our office we do not view our patients as "usual and customary", but as quality people who expect quality dentistry. Remember, your insurance benefit is limited by what you or your employer pavs for the plan less the profits of the insurance company.

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions about our office policies. We want you to be comfortable in dealing with these matters and we urge you to consult us if you have questions regarding our service and/or fees. We will process all insurance forms. We will fill out and file insurance forms at no charge. We will do all we can to assure you of maximum benefits, but bear in mind that the insurance company is responsible to you and you are responsible to us for your account. We cannot render service on the assumption that the charges will be paid by the insurance company. We are a Delta Dental Premier Network provider.

If you have any questions regarding your insurance, we ask that you contact your employer or insurance carrier regarding the specifics and details of the plan it is conducting on your behalf.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. We utilize Care Credit and offer up to 6 months interest –free financing. This is especially useful if you need crowns, bridges, or implants. Even the “best” insurance will not cover everything. You may use major credit cards with Care Credit, and you may split your payments into thirds. Care Credit allows you to extend this over 6 months.

Are you a cosmetic dentist?

Cosmetic dentistry in not a specialty (like orthodontics, for example). However, we are a general dental practice emphasizing cosmetic restoration. We achieve this by using a small, talented local dental lab that excels in porcelain crowns and bridges. If function allows, we avoid metal. We have several before and after photographs of cosmetic (esthetic) cases available for your review in our office.

Can I get everything done at your office?

We do most general dental procedures. There are some procedures that we will refer to our carefully chosen specialists. These include orthodontics (braces), endodontics (root canals), and oral surgery. We strive to help you keep your teeth. Our thorough diagnostic and treatment planning process provides the best possible treatment because we incorporate what we do best with what our specialists do best. This process is designed to ensure that you receive quality, integrated care regardless of the procedures needed.

What makes you different from the rest?

  • Our diagnosis and treatment planning process. We realize that individuals need treatment options and actively take this into consideration.
  • Our knowledge of the field. We are members of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD, which requires 75 hours of continuing education every three years. We routinely exceed these requirements.
  • Our size. In a small practice like ours, the staff stays in tune with patients and their needs. Turnover of staff members is low so you will be interacting with the same individuals over time.
  • Our equipment. Magnification in the form of dental surgical loupes and a Zeiss dental operating microscope (DOM) often enables us to find things before they can become a bigger problem. As of Jan 1st, 2010 we are the only office in the Fenton area incorporating a surgical microscope for general practice.

Do you treat kids?

We all have kids of our own, and make every attempt to treat all children. If we feel that your child may benefit from seeing a pediatric dentist, then we will not hesitate to involve our pediatric specialists.

Is it going to hurt?

David Owocki DDS has over 20 years of general practice experience including 8 years in the United States Public Health Service (Indian Health Service Dental Program). Dennis Owocki DDS has nearly 50 years of general practice experience. Together, we have learned to provide exceptionally comfortable anesthesia. We utilize a topical anesthetic, local anesthetic warmers, and a slow sustained delivery technique. You will be very comfortable.
